Tashkent

Tashkent

After reading many blogs I wasn't sure to spend any time in Tashkent before starting my trip on the silk road, luckily I spent 2 days in this city and it was a great surprise!

Tashkent is usually just the arrival/departure point of any trips in Uzbekistan and many people tourists/travellers don't spend much time here as they prefer exploring the sites of Samarkand or Bokhara. These are my recommendations,  and if you like Soviet architectures a stop in Tashkent is definitely a must!

1.Tashkent Circus
I don't like or support circuses that have animals inside, but the shape of this building is very interesting and i do recommend to look at it from the outside.

2. Chorsu Market
I love visiting markets wherever I travel and in Uzbekistan I found the tastiest fruits I have ever tried! The architecture is very interesting and the blue dome is very iconic.

3. State Museum of History of Uzbekistan
I have only visited the outside of this building as I didn't have much time in Tashkent. This was one of my favourite architecture in the city.

5. Kosmonavtlar Metro station
This is a very interesting metro station (it is a shame that it is not possible to take pictures inside). Outside there is a nice statue of Yuri Gagarin.

9. Day trip on the mountains around Tashkent
Before going to Uzbekistan I have contacted Viola, a local English teacher and mountain guide. She took me for a day hike on the beautiful mountains just outside Tashkent. It was a fun day and Viola is super friendly. If you want to hike the mountains with her you can contact her at this email address: violabard2@mail.ru
